BIO
Karl D’Mello was born in Mumbai, moving to London UK at a young age, he lived and studied in South West London developing a love for art early on. Towards the end of his education, Karl started using his father’s camera and soon became a passionate and lifelong student of photography. Persuaded by a friend he joined South Thames College studying photography, learning the disciplines and appreciation of composition and light, great photographers and photography techniques.
Now living in Oakville, just outside Toronto, Karl continues to develop his passion for photography and narrative story telling. His preference is towards documentary and photojournalism, Karl particularly enjoys travel and urban/street photography, but he has also shot portraits, fine art photography, weddings and events. He excels with people and whilst travelling gravitates towards “street portraits”, people and culture always being a very important part in the images he captures and the stories they tell.
Karl has had exhibitions in London, UK ~ including a solo exhibit at Frevds and prints shown in the Royal Festival Hall. More recently he has had work displayed at galleries in Ontario.
